Hellgate: London Character to be Nude in Playboy - Friday, September 9, 2005

CNN Money reveals that a Hellgate: London character is going to be featured in Playboy's nude pictorial. Here's the snippet you want to read:
Quote:
Carla's...a character in Atari's upcoming action/adventure game "Indigo Prophecy." And she's hardly alone. Seven other video game femmes fatale, heroines and bit characters have once again shimmied out of their clothes for a digital pictorial in the men's magazine.

Joining Carla are a cheerleader from Midway's upcoming "Blitz: The League," Sony's megahit "God of War," Vivendi's "50 Cent: Bulletproof," "Playboy: The Mansion – Private Party," "Darkwatch," and "Hellgate: London."
It must be noted that every other character has been revealed in the article, aside from Hellgate: London. With any luck, it'll be a new class character or an in-game NPC instead of the Templar female that we've already seen.

I guess Playboy's trying to appeal to the geek factor. Geeks with hardons, now that's new!

Haha...

Hmm, I wonder if this is signs of more to come. Not specifically for HG:L, but for games in general, as graphics improve. This reminds me of the Final Fantasy virtual character Aki Ross. (search e.g. Google Images for Aki Ross to see what I mean) Here's the clothed version and face detail.

That is completely stupid, unless it is a female dressed in the costume, which while still bad, is not nearly to the levels of polygon porn in playboy :\ (im flaming playboy for this terrible idea lol) Flagship is smart to accept any $$$ it could bring in (publicity too).

anyway enjoy the money you get FSS :P (Heck yeah :P)

The pictures won't show up here because of copyright and nudity reasons, right?

They will once the issue is available.

Minor censorship will cover the nudity and there is no copyright problem.

It's not really suprising, nor is it anything all that new. They ran something similar a while back involving a couple other games such as Bloodrayne, I think DoA, and a few others. Hell, they even ran a hottest TechTV hostess contest back in the day when there was a TechTV.

Interesting though that Flagship was approached on this as it's still so early in development and the templar is really the only female model we seen, whereas the others have a desgnated game hottie to be used. Guess we'll just have to see what comes up.

That's correct. This is a fansite. There is no personal gain being made off of the images. If I purchase the magazine, I am entitled to "archive" the images in a manner of my choosing. That happens to be digital archiving kindly offered by Sol.

Besides, I somehow think they expect to see their gaming images scanned in such a way. It may not be entirely legit but I certainly doubt that Sol will be getting Hugh Hefner's personal legal team knocking down his door.
