Canada's Globe & Mail has previewed (http://www.globetechnology.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20050527.gthellgatemay27/BNStory/AtPlay/) Hellgate: London with an interesting interview with Flagship COO Max Schaeffer about the role-playing aspects of the game, and gameplay.

Here's a snippet:

"Every demon will have something special about their behaviour that sets them apart," Schafer says. "For some of them, it will be a relationship with other demons, in a slave/master sense or with pack behaviour, for example."The enemies that Hellgate players will encounter aren't just demons. They'll see Beasts, Necros, Spectrals, and, of course, Demons. Beasts are the lowly, mindless grunts, Necros are the undead, Spectrals are the ghosts, and Demons are smart and organized.

Traditional guns do very little in the way of hurting these assailants, but Hellgate offers some very powerful weaponry. Because there are no conventional weapons, there's no "base damage" to deal with — it's all fire, ice, and so on. This feature in Hellgate: London lends itself to quite strategic gameplay — the player's going to have to switch weapons according to what enemy is resistant to what.Guns aren't the only solution to a problem in Hellgate, however. Schafer says that "there are many ways to kill demons," and, as such, the player can use stealth, magic, and many other fighting styles through different character classes. The only class Flagship has revealed at this point is the Templar (taken from the Knights Templar). The Templar is the traditional guardian of righteousness fighting against the forces of evil.
