2nd Inhellgate.de Contest: Class Contest - Win Official Flagship Studios Shirts!

Hi there everyone,

first of all: big thanks to Flagship Studios for giving away so much stuff to do community-contests, that's just great.

In this contest you have to write about an imagined class that you want to have inplemented into the game. First you should write about the class' history and why it takes place in the game: why do they fight?

Then you shall build a small talent-tree which consists of 3 trees with 3 skills each. Take your time and don't hurry, the contests ends on May 5th, just some days before the E³ starts..

btw the one with the F looks really nice for some reason. Also the fourth one with the hood is kinda ambiguous. I'm guessing its a sweater but it seems to have short sleeves?

I'm sure if you chipped in the shipping fee they won't mind hehehe. English being a problem, probably not. I've been to germany and a lot of people have very good english speaking skills. Writing may be different, but i never ran into any akward "hand signaling" situations the whole time there :D

I was thinking more along the lines of sculpting them out and then painting them like WeTA collectibles. Then sended the contest judge the model for free, with a 50$ note attached.

Hi,

the Contest closed yesterday. We received a lot of Mails from the international Community, too. All german class suggestions will be translated into english for you guys. So stay tuned and enjoy the E³, after this event we will publish the results.

By the way, we will start the next international contest right after the E³ has finished. You won't need any writing- or artskills or kind of creativity. You will be able to see the results in realtime. Of course you can win there official shirts and maybe the Hellgate: London Comic, again.

And, Northrop, I'd really like to read all three pages of your character history.

You know what… I almost forgot to submit my entry. I think I send it the day before the deadline. Anyway… I did make A LOT of cuts in the history and everything else… it was just too much B/S. So the history got shorten to about 350 words, and then the skill tree is… about the same in length (including description of each skill). The skills are completely unbalanced, but it’s a fun read ;)

Well, you know the old saying : the devil's in the details. Post that puppy with the skill tree in the fan fiction area and try to convince the other guys(they woukd smite me like a puny cockroach) to do the same.

As i just joined the HGL forum today, i did not make an entry, so i feel perfectly comfortable telling you all about an imaginary class.

[Avoid offensive stereotypes, SgtPepper.]

Class Name: Demonspawn

Class history: The demonspawn came into being shortly after an unusally grotesque breed of demon passed into our world. However, unlike the rest of their kin they carried an insatiable desire of the flesh.

Normally, nothing came of this desire for these monsters were not content to simply let their raped victims live. Never the less, some managed to escape, others were saved only after being impregnated, and still others managed to kill their captors. It does not matter how they survived, only that they did.

The resulting child always bore markings of their fathers. All were deformed, whether it was horns, scales, or some other diabolic appendege, and some, though admitted less than one would expect, had the same disposition of their fathers. Those who would live amongst other humans were not given that chance. The rest of society could not bare to have these creatures amongst them.

Because of this the demonspawn formed their own communites, and their own villages. Approachable enough, they enjoy human company, though are obviously suspicious of any who enter their homes. This shunning from normal civilization also gave them their reason to fight. To be accepted by the rest of humanity... And for revenge. Revenge upon those who ruined their lives before they began.

Class skills:

1: Demonic: The demonspawn have inherited many skills from their demonic fathers.

A: Unleash: When a demonspawn uses the unleash skill he gives in to the demonic urges within himself and temporarily is consumed by them. This gives them the power of the patriachs, while preserving some shread of judgement.

B: Consume: Because of their demonic heritage the demonspawn have an unusal taste for flesh. This skill allows you to consume lesser demons over a period of time. During the time that a demon is within you, your character will be slower, but at the same time will steal life from the creature in its stomache.

C: Concealment: Because they are half demon themselves, the demonspawn can for a short period of time, trick the demons around them into believing that they are an ally. However, demons are not stupid, and if attacked they will fight back. Never the less, this skill gives the demonspawn a useful time to heal or run.

2: Patricidal: Because of their desire for revenge the demonspawn have developed several skills for the sole purpose of dealing devastating damage to powerful demons.

But I've a question. If the children already had horns, how were they born or carried without killing their mothers, or were the horns soft ?
And the part about the insatiable desire for flesh, does that mean that demons have genders and, if so, will FSS make them anatomically correct and strap some boxers on them ? :D

Well things born with horns dont have horns when they come out per se. They are undeveloped and grow eventually.

Yeah, but you'd expect a demon to have horns and fangs and claws from the get go, othetherwise he'd be teased by his peers in kindergarten.

But do they really procreate ? imagine the pr0n and little kiddies running around in hell and, if so, isn't it wrong to kill them by the shitload and leave poor baby demons without a father figure, thus continuing this vicious circle of hate and bloodlust ?:D

You know i truly didn't think this through very throughly, but considering that i have full creative control i will clairify some things:

1: Not all of them have horns/claws/tails. It would be part of a character customization thing... i guess...

2: In much the same way as a human, when demons are first born much of their bone structure is simply cartilidge. The catilidge later becomes bone through ostification (if you know your biology). This enables the mothers to survive. Just like in a human child, most of the demonspawn's bone structure is developed by the age of three. However, this does not eliminate the possibilities of changes during adolescense...

3: Demons do not have genders. This demon is simply an anomaly and exists only in a male form, if you will. While it is technically male, if you define male as having the ability to procreate a female, it does not neccesairly look any different from its demonic brothers, it just appears to be another species of demon.

4: I am going to take that very last question in jest, as it obviously was intended. But it does envoke a little bit of thought none the less. These demons are uncapable of rational thought. They know to rape women in much the same way that a baby knows to nurse. It is instincitve.

An update was already supposed to go in, but unfortunantly a mod was editing out some offensive humor while i was attempting to submit it, and because of this it was lost... I think i will redo it though.

Wow, you've really given this some serious thought. I accept your answers as they are pertinent and yes, I do know my biology and yes, the last part was sort of a joke.
Too bad they only have one gender, if it is as you say it is, because that's just one more source of frustration and anger for them :D
Yeah, the customization of your character would undoubtedly include horns and hooves (?).

Overall, if they didn't have a cabalist who can change his/her appearance into that of a demon, your class would be a sure bet for this game.

Not really... I just started typing. Took me... about 15 minutes. And i didn't have an acutal plan for all of that stuff to happen, you simply pointed out a flaw in my logic, and i made up an answer. It is really, incredibly, easy when you can say just about anything.
