View Full Version : Questions on poison damage and interrupt strength

Not really sure if it goes in this forum, but meh, here goes.

First:
Does anyone know how poison damage is calculated??? I know that the chance to apply the poison SFX is determined by the ratio of your poison attack strength to your enemies poison defense. My question is, how is the damage calculated?
On poison weapons, you also see a stat on the left side when you inspect a weapon that is something like "Poison effect: XX%". Does this determine the amount of poison damage done per second? And if so...how?
I'm completely lost on how much poison damage you do :(

Second:
Interrupt strength? This comes on many weapons. Looks kind of like another effect, which has its own attack strength like all the other SFX. The numbers are usually much lower than all the other SFX though, and I have yet to find anything that increases this stat via mods.

What exactly does it do? Does it only interrupt channeling type spells? Can it interrupt attacks mid-swing/shot, nullifying the attack?

Any help on these would be appreciated. I've looked a lot and can't find anything on either.

Pretty sure poison is 5% life per second. I think everything else affects its land rate.

it's fire that is 5% life per second. poison works differently. The source of poison damage will have their own damage. I do not know however how it operates but it makes sense that the poison effect strength as mentioned above would regulate this.

Also, just for clarification, the basic model for attack strength vs defense strength is
chance = att / (att + def) with some other sort of modifications in play that i do not have the details of. This is not speculation, a dev posted this.

I haven't done extensive testing on this yet, but poison may also be mitigated damage. I say this because my Guardians seem to take much less damage from it than my other characters. In one instance, I was poisoned by the boss "Lady Vengeance" and sustained only 1dmg/tick for the full extent of the effect. I haven't noticed the "Poison Effect: %" you speak of, but I have seen Shock weapons that list that, so maybe it is all relative to the source.

Also, I think you have it right on interrupt strength. I have noticed at times that I can bash an opponent, knocking him off balance and reseting his attack (in addition to canceling skill use).

Poison works like somebody said> The damage the poison does is based on the initial poison damage and poison attack strenght.

Fire works 5% per sec.
