I have played on the beta for no more than 10 hours, and i have 9000 palladium saved up. It seems like too much to be worth trading or using as common currency. can anyone who is higher level with more experience in beta verify if gold is the common currency for trading? or item for item only?

I use the palladium for resurrection and to buy things like to heal me and to identify.

I'm guessing item for item. No one really trades in beta. Personally all my gold at lvl 22 goes into upgrading items(which will make you broke real fast!).

as i see it alot of money will be needed. I haven't played the beta much longer then you but gold will be spent on upgrading items with the augmentator 3000 or what it is called.

Mods with that cost
100xItem Lvl for common
400xItem LvL for rare
1600xItem LVl for legendary

so if you are at lvl50 with a item that is Ilvl 50 and want to add a legendary attribute to it it will cost you 80000. I have added 2rare attributes to my focus device at Ilvl11 costing me 8800.

Yeah palladium seems worthless until you start spending it. Then it seems like it takes forever to get more.

Swords even in the second station (Covent Garden) can range in the 1200-1600 pd range, and as someone else said, upgrading takes a lot. Personally I'd prefer if they reduced the pd value by x10 or something, so that 1000 pd was really 100pd and bought the same stuff. I really like WoW's method of copper, silver and gold. A hundred gold in WoW is a lot (relatively speaking). A hundred gold in Titan Quest, Oblivion or HGL is worthless.

I would also like to add that with the augmentator 3000 you get an easy way to price your item in palladium seeing as the augmentator gives you the price of the attributes and now only item rating and mod slots need to be calculated in.

For example if you wanted to buy a legendery item that is ilvl20 with 3attributes and 2mod slots.

32000x3 for each attribute
30000x2 for each mod slot(have no idea how much a mod slot is worth but in reality it can be looked on as an extra attribute i think)
40000 for base rating(again i have no idea how much it would be worth, this will most likly be determined by the price of the components that would be needed to boost it up with the nanoforge)

that is about 200k for the item

Looking at these numbers i would say the reason trade will be more common then money for items is that people might not have the money needed for the expensive items not that it is worthless

I am guessing that items with popular attributes might go higher in price per attribute to maybe 2000xilvl
Also 4mod slots might go exponentially up from 3mod slots for 1handers seeing as they are much rarer.
Lastly the prices will most likly be alot lower then the cost of creating the item because it is easier to find an item then it is to craft it, you can see this in games like WoW where the prices of items are below and often far below the material cost because the item or other similar items drop from mobs.

Money really isn't that common in this game. I did have about 30k when I hit 22(I disassemble all items) and I spent 20k upgrading my blue helm alone. It disappears fast and doesn't come that quickly. Sure it has big numbers, but its not that common.

I breakdown all of my items also minus selling a few here or there. I've blown alot of coin on the augmentor. No coin has value in this game and as we level the demand will only increase.

Yes, they have done well with the Augmentrix. With it in place and being so costly, there will always be a need for palladium. Also once the AH gets up and going, I could see people spending a lot of money on buying scraps.

There is a whole forum of trades. A typical high end unique is going for about 10K pal right now.

I find it easy to get a lot of gold... but find it even easier to spend it. I spend it upgrading new items which i'm getting.... and at lvl 20+ a rare attribute can drain you very fast, at 21 I spent 10k on one rare upgrade for a weapon.

I have seen players selling items for palladium too in trade (EU server). So I think for now at least players will want it.
