Pardon my lack of searching skills if this topic has already been discussed, but I couldn't find anything on the topic for the life of me.

I have three simple questions, answer if you know or discuss if you don't I'm just looking for some insight. If the beta policies restrict any answer's don't sweat it, I'm sure I'll find out Eventually.

1. What is the character level cap?

2. What is the Stat Cap (Accuracy, etc.)?

3. Aside from Skill Soft caps, how high can skills go above that? IE: I put 10 points into "Skill A" and cap it but items I have equipped enhance Skill A at an amount of X.

Level cap was 50 last time I checked.

Never heard of any stat caps.

From what I've heard, it is a hard cap. Once you've reached the highest level of skill through skill points, wearing an item with +1 to that skill won't do anything.

Yes I have heard that theres going to be a lvl 50 cap, but in one of the pics on gamespot I saw a lvl 65...................... makes you wonder.

Meh. That's just the devs buffing up to demo stuff. Usually.

That certainly would be lame. Great way to make people feel like they just ruined their char after finding a good item. I find it very hard to believe they'd do that.

Diablo didn't have limitations on how much items could increase stats, did it? I don't see any reason at all why they'd downgrade that, especially considering this game is still big on items.

1. What is the character level cap?

From the most recent interviews I believe one of the devs touched on this exact subject and stated that currently there is no set cap and that the level 50 was a proposed cap from a long time ago that was implemented for tests and things but not much else. I'll try to dig up a quote somewhere. :)

On the other things I doubt there's going to be a stats cap, I mean you wanna make an evoker with only strength you go right ahead and do that. o_O

No idea on skills cap tbh :S

I certainly hope that the skill/stat caps are hoaxes. What on gods green earth would be the use of limiting the value of items and the freedom of players to make out-of-the-ordinary characters?

I really really hope that are no caps. Personnaly havent seen anything indicating that there are such caps.

Far as we know there is no STAT cap. Then again it could be the game mechanics have caps. Like for example in WoW even though you had more then 475 defence there would be no need for it cause thats the max you needed to avoid crushing blows (critical hits i think it was. Never played a tanking class) from mobs. So it would be just a waste of stats or item effects if it added defense.

That skillcap is total and utter bullshit. If they actualy do that it would be a pretty dumb move, and pretty much kill the point with any good gear.

Not really.. I think it depends on what level they cap it at ..

doesn't concern me at all. all it means is I don't max out my main skills and use items to fill the gap, so i can get even more skills overall.

IMHO items should improve you, not be a crutch. When you find cool new items, it sucks if you absolutely need your current ones and are unable to switch.

I believe there it is a two tier skill cap:

1) A point cap (i.e. you can only put 10 points into a skill)

2) An item cap (i.e. you can only use + items to buff your skills 5 points above the point cap)

Note: Those numbers are just guesses.

I remember reading something like that a while back, but I can't confirm whether or not this is actually the case.

Would this point cap differ for varying factions/classes???

What MountainMan said is also what I have read somehwere (but I forget where...)

I thought I read the cap with +items would be 2, but again I just can't remember where I read that :( Would kind of make sense though, I mean, thats 20% over the maxium allowable hard cap (10/10) per skill.

I think people are trying too hard in some cases to relate HG:L to D2. I am sure they are/will be similar (I'm not in beta though), but as far as D2 was concerned you could have 20 hard cap and then an additional 20 or 30 plus to any particular skill. It was really fun, but it might not work well in HG:L. I will just trust the devs on this one :)

From what I've seen, only certain skills get boosted in HG:L. I would be very surprised if there were "+X to all skills" items. And if those items don't exist, then the hard cap isn't as bad. It still means you need to be able to see the future to place skill points sometimes, but I won't even get into that issue.

If that is true they might as well just throw the game away...

Level Cap:
50

Stat Cap:
No Attribute Cap, but there's 245 Stat points you can get from leveling and about 15-20 from Bonus Quests so far.

Skill Cap:
At the moment, HGL supports +2 over the limit on SOME spells. a 12/10 on Spectral Lash does nothing for example. Neither does 12/10 Fire Elemental, still max of 10 eles. These numbers have been stated numerous times on the official and because of that, seem to be true. The actual limit on release may be higher, but for beta, it was and has always been 12/10 ON SOME SKILLS.
