Alright well I've decided to update my video card, since AGP is about to be completely dead tech and my comp is good enough that i shouldn't need to update for a couple of years with a good video card.

Right now im using a ATI Radeon 9600 Pro AGP

I'm debating between an XFX GeForce 7600GT 580MHZ AGP 256MB DDR3 Dual DVI-I HDTV Out Video Card

OR

A EVGA GeForce 7800 GS CO / 256MB GDDR3 / AGP 8x / DVI / VGA / TV Out / Video Card
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1831181&CatId=318

Keep in mind these are canadian prices... That EVGA card is 35 bucks cheaper on the american tigerdirect page but by the time brokerage and shipping are worked out it would cost the same :(

Which card would you get and why?

-Also my monitors a 17" LCD and likely won't be updating that. Prefered Res of 1280x1024

The 7600 GT and the 7800 GS are really almost equal, I would buy the 7800 GS though if it's cheaper.

lol, if only you could order from an american site, at american shipping rates. With that canadian dollar being stronger then the american dollar you would REALLY save money...lol

what are the rest of your system specs btw?

The reason why im curious is because if the rest of your system isn't strong enough then going above a 7600 might not yield you any benefits (the term would be "bottleneck") over a higher card.

and just one more FYI

This christmas is going to be a realllllllllllly good time to build a new pc (nvidias 7xx chipset is coming out, amd's quad core and high end gfx's at 200 dollar price ranges, along with the 9xxx nvidia cards should make this holiday season extremely competitive amongst computer parts manufactures. This = price wars = much cheaper to build a pc).

personally I'd reccomend an entirely new pc (seeing as your on agp, your computer must be pretty old already, and I don't see how it could last "a few more years" realistically).

Rest of system specs are:

Currently:
Pentium 4 3.0ghz 'Prescott'
1024mb DDR
200 gig HD
Motherboard (http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Motherboard/Products_Overview.aspx?ProductID=1842)
ATI Radeon 9600 Pro
It's only 1 or 2 years old but I wanted to build a cheap computer. IMHO upgrading the video card should get me what I need out of my computer as I typically don't play new games anyways, and my current video card runs oblivion flawlessly at low settings and thats fine by me.
