So they said the game will be compatible for not just XP but Vista, but what about windows 2000? I currently use windows 2000 professional and there is no real difference other than that it's better than XP for networking purposes.

I ran into this problem with Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth II where i could not install the game because I had windows 2000 and not XP. Anyone know if I will have the same problem? I surely hope not, because I'm sure many othe rpeople out there use windows 2000 also.

btw the game i mentioned can be played on windows 2000 when you find a way around the OS check on the installation like i did. technologically, XP is not superior to 2000. the only reason it won't run on 2000 is that they put something on the installation that checks for the OS and won't ALLOW you to use that one, not because it can't technologically run it.

in fact i think they made XP inferior to 2000 in order to be "more user friendly"

Vista 64-bit is good performance wise, if you find hardware that actually WORKS with it.

Checked with Ivan, says that 2000 and 98 are not currently supported operating systems.

Asked him about future support to which he responded, "That'll depend on what our partners think their audiences require". So there you go. Time to upgrade.

I'm not telling you to go out and buy XP (or Vista), but if networking is the only reason you didn't switch to XP, you may want to reconsider, especially if you're a gamer.

Well cheapskate... cough up :P

No seriusly it's your own choice, but you can't complain that they don't support a decade old OS. A few years from now new games will probably not support windows xp.

All my hardware works with Vista 64. Not one problem currently with anything.

^ Isn't the problem more that a lot of software doesn't work with it. You know software that was optimised at an Assembler level which might not always - depending on what has been done on that level - work with 64 bit.

Well i run Win2K Pro, and Battlefield 2 isn't supported or they won't support Win2K but i installed it and i can run it perfectly.

I'm guessing they won't give support if you run it on 2000 but you can install it.
