What specifically do you mean? D2 didn't exactly have a system. Just regular trading.

Wow system all the way. I don't want to spend 12 hours finding someone willing to trade me an item for what i have and then hoping they don't scam me by using a trade hack.

They'd have to make gold somewhat hard to find (at least in big quantities) for that to work. I'm okay with items trading, but would like to see a more effective way of advertising what you offer, so people can find those offers more easily.

Well despite what people may prefer, looks like we're getting a currency driven economy with auction house regardless.

How do you know? Devs have stated currency is useless like in D2 and they've said we're getting auction houses. Maybe they just work differently than in WoW.

People keep saying that but so far they haven't found the quote AND who knows how old it was? For all you know that was before they had auction houses implimented fully.

Auction house, please. Maybe it will reduce if not eliminate the idiots who spam:
"SUPER SWORD OF ASS-WHUPPING! 5000 PAL!"

Other, as I want a mix of both, cos a barter economy creates a sort of mini game, where you learn to play the market, while the auction system makes it easier on the new players...

Action Houses all the way

Yes. Action house. That's where it all happens. The action, that is. GO!

dunno I got used to setting a shop somewhere nice and offering my trade face to face (with shop talk maybe, like flyff).
I like the interaction between people and friendship offers/deals (or on the other hand arguing on the worth of the item/s and getting extra materials for said item/s)
I played so much this way in most mmo', that it became a second nature.
but i suppose auction house will be the best solution for fast paced, mmo like, HG:L.

The cool thing about the early D2 barter trades was that it was possible to get great deals by sometimes trading "OK" items for "GREAT" stuff, if the person really needed something you had.

I would deffenently want a central place to go to browse and sell. The AH from WoW, or the bazaar terminals from SWG (pretty much the same thing). I do not want to stand around and spam some area's channels trying to sell something. I would just vendor something instead of doing that.

Auction house, of course. Too much cheating and scamming when it comes to bartering, not to mention it's just a very outdated system. Do we barter today? No, last time I checked I use currency to purchase things in life. Same applies to MMO's games.
If they start with the bartering, it would be a very bad, bad path to go down. It's just a bad system all round. Who wants to waste hours trying to sell stuff?
Auction houses, you just toss it up there, put in your prices, if someone wants it, they bid or buy it, otherwise, you get it back. Sometimes also what isn't hot today can be hot tomorrow. So something that sells poorly might be a gold mine later on, depending on changes in the game.
Gotta play WoW and their auction house system to truly understand. I made, and lost, a fortune on there.

The problem with the AH is that it homogenizes everything. You have nearly every item in the game readily accessible to anyone with enough money. It takes the fun out of finding it yourself. The AH also makes most loot alot less special, while making a few things outrageously priced. I hate the AH in wow, because it streamlines everything and makes everyone the same. I'd rather see a trading house. In D2 you had to put in effort to make good trades, and that was a game/skill unto itself.

Read this five times now, and I still don't see why that's supposed to be a bad thing.
Six times now, I still don't get it...

Is this some kind of Zen?

Obviously you haven't played other games, because you'd know this isn't true. There will always be special loot.
And I don't see what is bad about making things easier for players, improving the economy, allow players more time to play the game rather than sit around trying to make trades.
I just think your post lacks any experience with auction houses in other games.

Bill Roper:"We'll have all of the community elements you would want from an online RPG, such as guilds, highly manageable friends lists, an auction house, advanced grouping options, and so on.", from Euro Gamer interview http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=76203.
So guess it's going to be AH.....which is the best solution, hate the WTS and WTB spam in D2 and other barter based games.

The WoW trading system was one of the well made things in the game, so i would definately want to see that one again. So really glad to hear that HG:L will have a system like that :D

Having auction houses in the game means that I won't have to have as much contact with actual players in the game, and this fills my little antisocial heart with a warm fuzzy feeling.

WoW is teh win! Sadly I really don't want to see D2's economy as it went belly up int erms of money . However FSS seems to be putting in failsafes to make sure money is usable. I can see things being half Item/Item , half Item/Pal . GW operates in this same system. Dependingo n the item, and what your needs are.. sometimes someone wants to trade an Axe for a Sword.
