This is a little awkward, but… I’m looking for some cool board game. The price doesn’t matter (well, ok… nothing over $150).

Risk is no longer fun, and pretty much we always end up setting our armies in the same way.

Axis & Allies is my favorite yet… too bad that none of the people I play with the most can comprehend the rules. And they all make their own rules on the fly. That’s irritating!

Ok… that’s pretty much my only experience with strategy games. I’m currently looking at Civilization, but there’s got to be something else out there that is worth playing.

I’d be interested in playing Warhammer, but the cost of the complete setup is out of my price range at the moment. And I don’t want Stratego.

So what are some good board games? War/strategy or RPG? And I don’t want Doom (yes, they actually made that into a board game).

No, I’m not a nerd ;)

I'm interested in Zero Radius Games' upcoming game "DIE! The Game".

Try Diplomacy or anything else from Avalon Hill.

Settlers of cathan anyone?^^

Warhammer is IMO far too expensive.... and throwing a disk into a bunch of units and calling it a nuclear strike is kinda... akward ;)

Ever played Hero Quest? it's a classic ;) very fun 2 play and NO its not D&D ;)

Settlers of cathan anyone?
Although I haven't played it myself I've heard great things about this. And it has tons of expansions to keep you playing a long time.

The A Song of Ice and Fire game is supposed to be pretty neat.

I would play Warhammer if it was not so tedious and complicated. I mean come on:
1. Games that take hours upon hours.
2. Having to move every single figurine the exact amount of space.
3. Having to paint every figurine down to meticulous detail.

My cousin tried to show me how to play and the rulebook is the size of a bible. Plus, there is another rulebook for each individual race. You really have to be passionate if you want to play Warhammer.

Yeah, I better stick to my PC version of it ;)

But coloring your pieces isn’t all that bad, if you’re into it. I like paining my car models (even though it takes… a realllllly loooong time to do); every single engine part painted separately… it looks really cool at the end. But I guess that’s totally different. I had a set of 50 soldiers that came with my tank model. I never got to paint them. ;) I lost them somewhere…

Pff, Warhammer Fantasy/40K is definately both a game and a modeling hobby. If you don't like painting, modeling and the wargame itself, you wont enjoy it.

Also, try out Settles of Cathan! Seriously. It's a very simple board game, but also alot of fun. The expansions are great, too. =)

Well, so I got Diplomacy and Settlers today, but only had a chance to play Settlers, and I must say I really like it. Thanks for the tip guys. Looking forward to Diplomacy now.
