I was inspired by the other threads here to do my own sketch of the Templar. I took the picture on my Nikon Coolpix 775 because I don't have a scanner.

The shoulderpads are a bit too big and I didn't use an eraser on the picture at all, so some lines are out of whack.

Here's a touched up version I used Photoshop for:

I really like how that turned out. Especially the glass on his helmet, and the shading on his breastplate.

Hehe, those are cool. But they are all just the same old pictures. Everyone paints the same templar. Now I dont mean that they are bad but I want something new...

I used a HB graphite pencil to draw it. I angled it sideways to smudge it and to create the shading.
I then took a picture of it and edited it digitally in Photoshop with a Cut Out filter on custom settings, as I don't have any brushes at my disposal in real life. I overlayed the filtered layer onto my original sketch and cleaned it up.
It got the result I wanted. :D

wow
so much work! haha. but i would say the effect turned out to be worth the trouble!
So it really was pencils haha. nowadays its hard to tell with digital medium in the picture.
oh yeah i took couple of my sketches with digicam cuz my scanner gave way. haha. but the scanner was better. im going to recycle that digicam.

Yeah, it took me about an hour to do the whole thing. It was pretty fun.

an hour is fast! takes me about 20 mins or so to do a sketch on average cuz sometimes i need to think were to draw wat. Scanning + adjusting the levels and values takes me another 20-30 mins. If i had to play around with texture and stuff and do the cleaning, would prolly take me longer than an hour :/
