Help restoring profile

Had to reinstall Vista and Hellgate. i had saved my profile from the game howver. I reinstalled Hellgate and copied the profile over to documents and my games. It does not load it in. anyone have any suggestions? Thanks. I was at level 23 and 3/4 thru the game. I really don't want to start from the beginning again.

Was your savegame done in a same patch version as your new installation? Savegames in newer version might have prob when u try opening it in a new game installation with no patches done. But that is just my guess.

Thanks, good point. I will try uninstall and not patching and see if I can get it to work. Thanks again

Occasionally character files will get corrupted and Hellgate won't recognize them. But if this problem happened to your entire profile all at once, that seems suspect.

To help diagnose the problem further, you could try creating a new character with the same name as one of your old characters. If the game claims that character already exists, if probably means your old files are corrupted. If the new character creation works fine, it probably means that the copied profile is in the wrong location.

Yup, my friend had a case of corrupted savegame too. Anyway, did you back up your profile properly with both 1 Folder and 1 File having your character name? The Folder I believe is your map files, whereas the File (i forgot the extension) with your name is your character info. You need both.

Thanks for the input guys. Yes, it would not let me name my same character, says it already exists. I copied the whole folder labeled hellgate. Oh well, i guess it's start from scratch time. LOL. Thanks for all the suggestions
