How do resistances and elemental effect attack strengths work?
How do mods with "+%" elemental damage work, especially in conjucntion with weapons that don't do that damage type?
How do mods with "+ elemental attack strength" work in conjunction with weapons that don't do that damage type?
Why don't the printed stats show us the whole picture?
Has FSS not learnt from the mistakes of D2? (Crushing Blow - without Arreat Summit, how is anybody supposed to know wtf it does?)
Do the FSS folks think that we find it fun to decipher what these stats do? O.o

Any particular reason you decided to open this in Off Topic?:lol::lol::lol::lol:
Anyways, yeah they're leaving too much room for imagination.

Because there are loads of game related discussion sections and chances are if I posted it in one of them it'd be the wrong place. Here, I can do whatever I like so it's safe :D
Can any of the admins or mods help me here perhaps?
I really want to know what people think, even if it's "yeah, I too am pissed off at how cryptic the stats are!"

I'll move this to plains of despair so people can complain about the stat system more!
And yeah I agree, FSS hasn't really provided much knowledge of what everything does...

Well, not much of an expert here, but if you add mods that do +% damage of a damage different than the weapon (for example, a dragonblade is based fire damage and a mod adds lightning...), the weapon does normal damage + a bit of damage from the mod. This damage is usually low, and can't cause combustion, shock, poisoning etc. It has a good side to it though, when completing the mini-game, a kill from the weapon in the example will knock off both a fire kill and a lightning kill. I modded a meteor blade with fire and lightning mods, so the minigames tend to end quickly since my other slot has a dragonblade (high criticals + poison mod).
Not sure if this helps you any, but here it is nonetheless.
What I would also like to know, is how the special defenses work. No matter how high they are, the monsters still breach them all the time. I had a stun defense of over 1800, or so, and those blade slayers still kept stunning me all the time. Weird. What is also weird is the fact that a +800 ability on the item is a legendary function and seems to do very little. The points invested into Aura of salvation also seem to be a major waste, good thing that they'll get us a relocation token today.

Well, Aura of Salvation is getting buffed. So try it out first. That's one thing I was wanting to hear from other Guardians about in 1.0; because I'm wanting to switch my Aura...
Kolossov: If you have a +ignite mod on a weapon that does not do ANY fire damage, you always have 0% chance to ignite. However, if that weapon also has a +fire damage mod, then both mods work.
Hope that clears it up.
The tooltips need a lot of work. I'm still waiting for one that tells you your base stats before equipment modifiers.

as far as i understand
when you have a mod that does +% fire damage it will damage your enemy with a small percent of that damage type but if you want the special affect as well ie ignite you also need a mod that adds to ignite so +X to ignite. But without the +% to fire damage the +X to ignite wont work.

I just deleted my post by accident and I am really really angry. I just managed to restrain myself from punching my desk really hard because that post was lovingly crafted and now it is all lost.
...
I'll just answer Harbinger then and go play some UT3 to cool off. *deep breath*
Does that mean Mr.K joined the survivors? (aboot time he did eh?)
I can now play HG:L because I have bought a very nice new PC.
This is my new comp thread: http://www.hellgateguru.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11393
I'll resume playing HG:L once I've found out what all the stats do, because the items are one of the best parts of the game, and I can't properly manage my gear when I don't even know how the fuck it works!
Once that last hurdle has been crossed, would you like to play with me? We're both in Europe so it should work out easily!

I made an account, successfully, read my email thoroughly, etc. etc.
The official site keeps asking me to log on whenever I click anything and always rejects my username and password. Click on support? Login please.
...
Wrong Username and password!
Fantastic support. How can I contact FSS now and ask them to sort this out? I can't even get on the bloody forums. I never saw myself as one of the people moaning in the plains of despair, but when the official website behaves in such a manner I can't help losing faith.

Did u register an .eu or .us account?
Only the .us ones work for the forums, however you can make both accounts with the same CD key, so make a .us account on the HellgateLondon.com site and that should let you in...

but be carefull if you are planning to subscribe cause subs are different between eu and us. hence why all eu subs can test subs stuff on test server

I registered an EU account of course, because I live in the EU.
Please don't be so sloppy Flagship! :(
I'll make a U.S. account then...
EDIT: I checked the official forum, and it still looks to me like nobody outside of FSS knows exactly how elemental resistances work. I sent FSS a message here: http://www.flagshipstudios.com/contact_us, asking them if they are planning to fix the particular problems which have been bugging me lately. I encourage other people with problems to get in contact with FSS too! I wonder if they will reply. I don't really mind as long as they fix those problems, that's much more important of course!
