I know its not an impossible quest (the C.I.S part) but does anyone enjoy doing it? I find it extremely frustrating due to the lack of control you have.
I'd much rather be down there working in that team myself, or maybe controlling then from a first person perspective instead of birds eye.
Im trying to do it in nightmare mode at the minute and I just have major issues because most of my team seems to die well before the end.
As I say its not because its hard, its due to a lack of control IMO. Should it be improved?

It was a nice idea but needs improvement. Wait till you do it Elite NM, that shit was.... interesting.

Is that teh 4 man top down thing? If so just click way forward and bomb the big guy. It might take a few tries but eventually he'll catch on fire and you just need to click the portal once he's down.

yea you just click ahead of the crew, until you see beelzabiatch, spam the napalm until he ignites, he stays ignited for a long time.
Sometimes I'm such a spaz clicking ahead of the 4 man crew that two of them get stuck in the spawn zone, which is a convenient way to continue spamming napalm without respawning the tards.
yea, the quest is semi-broken, this is the best way i've found to exploit the problem.

You don't even need to hit the main mob: just skip ahead, throw a call down close-ish, and after a few times he'll just disappear. You don't even need to click on the portal.
Tbh, I'm not sure why you're asking "Should it be improved", there's another question that would rhyme that's much more important...

It does need improvement like more excitement than just running around the corner and popping the guy and hopping through the portal.

I wish they had the ability to implement standard RTS controls and char select options for that quest, rather than pointing in a general direction and hoping that their shots hit the intended targets...

Horrible quest. And the "fist" they give you is so weak that they have trouble dealing with the regular mobs.
If I wanted a RTS, I would have bought one.

Quoted for truth.
It's for this reason that I have no qualms about abusing bugs to pass that mission easily. It never should have been in the game in the first place.

Aye that i did in normal mode and it worked and im trying in nightmare mode, but one of the crew will always run ahead and agro a spawing mob. It seems pot luck to me, whether or not you pass that quest.
Im now actually stuck in the subway where you start, because I cant do it!
Well I probably could but im just so damn frustrated I have no love or want to keep trying... and im stuck if I dont.
All we need is the ability to take control of the leader, and direct them from a first person perspective and it would be sOOOO much easier and fun! Its like the garntlet and its stupid armor thing.. it just doesnt work when you tell it to do stuf.

The damage you've done with the strike doesn't seem to reset when the squad dies, so just keep at it and completely ignore your squad. If you have to, think of the squad as a timer and skipping to the main mob and hitting the call down as the actual game.
They should just remove this one, imo, and make the robot in the gauntlet FPS controls.

It was a neat gimmick the first time through, and quickly became an exercise in napalm strike justice. I guess I'll second the opinion that if they are going to do anything with this quest they should just flat out remove it.

Yeah it was a neat gimmick at first but getting to it is a pain and not worth it but you got no choice but to do it.

I dunno about removing it. Its not a bad quest and relatively easy like most of the game. I just dont for the life of me, understand why its done RTS style.
Hellgate is a FPS + RPG game, so why throw RTS into them mix.
It even more astounds me that during testing, no one thought "the controls for this dont really work too well do they?" and then realise to scrap that RTS method. The perspective and controls for that quest really are unbelievably bad that it beggers belief!
Its not like we have to control anyone or anything else RTS style later in the game either, so you cant even argue "the wall" a "training run" for something later in the game.
Even the gauntlet quest can be done without the suit too, so why bother with it?
I'll just cross my fingers they realise to make it FPS style and allow us to control them from a better perpective. Nice gimic, but badly implimented!

At first I couldn't work out why the quest is in the game aside from a novelty quest, however if you think about it in the context of the plot of the game it makes perfect sense.
The true purpose of the quest is to give you an insight as to why Maxim (the leader of the Templar who sends all the Templar to the Hellgate, and you rescue them). You see before I'd had to do this quest 5 times or so, I just thought the guy was a bit of a prick, but now..... now I know. To put it simply he must control the Templar in a very similar fashion to this, and well.... hes just gone mad from how completely ineffective it is and that the only way to win when your using this "engine" is to throw your minions into the heat of battle just so you can hit the damn monsters with the napalm strike and hope to god that they ignite.
I'm pretty sure this mission is there purely for empathic purposes in regards to the charecter of Maxim, he's not a crazy bastard after all.... well actually he is, but do the quest in Elite and you'll soon see why he's doing what he's doing, it's the only way to win.

This quest was a real pain in Elite nightmare. The whole crew was killed in something like 30s and it was quite frustrating.
Then some guildmate explained that you have to click very fast from the beginning to reach the boss (before your crew get killed behind the camera) and then drop the bomb on him. The camera isn't stuck on the crew so you can launch the bomb on the boss, kill him, and then just click on the blue tp while your men are far behind.
It worked for me. But this is still a crapy quest...

I just dont for the life of me, understand why its done RTS style.
For a change of pace, of course.
I liked that they threw a couple quests in that deviated from the usual hack and slash. Switching to RTS for this quest (along with the Robot in Gauntlet), or FPS for the "shoot down the exospector" quest or even mild puzzle solving for the Tower of Abbadon quest adds to the game.
Maybe it's just me, but trying to figure out how to work the quest, and then doing it, is where the fun comes from.
Don't get me wrong, I loves teh hack-n-slash, but even that can get boring after a while.

Agreeing with Mikeandroe here. The quests might not have been amazing, but offered a surprising twist and a breather from the H&S routine that is 98% of the game.

I was a Evoker, I blinked through the door and killed Belzebub in 20 secs with lash. Quest took me about 40 secs even in Elite Nightmare.
