View Full Version : How do I use the Lightning? Competently?

I played through the Final Test quest in [non-elite] Nightmare last night. By my count, this is the fifth time I've done this quest (between multiple characters/difficulties and network errors). I have yet to figure out how to use the lightning mech correctly.

As far as I can tell, the you have two skills while in the mech. Left click causes you to walk to the spot you clicked. Right click on an enemy brings up the mech's arms and starts firing at the enemy - and does absolutely no damage whatsoever, no matter how long he's shooting. If damage was only an issue in nightmare, I'd write it off to level differential, but I can't even scratch mobs in normal, either.

Please tell me there's something obvious that I'm missing / doing wrong.

I'm no expert on the issue - however when I was doing that quest in Normal and noticed that in fact the mech's guns damage was minimal I just exited the thing and went forward on foot killing as usual. Had some graphic problems while at it but still. One of the icons on the mech's skillbar should allow you to exit.
AFAIK there's no need for him at all - as I was able to go forward on foot without problems.

You mean the big mecha robot?

Don't use it. It sucks.

You will have far more firepower by yourself than with the mecha.

Or use it as a tank... run with the bot until you reach the far end of the map and jump out of it, make a dash to the sigil.

 But until it get some love, this bot is as effective as a wart on a wooden leg (oooh pun!)

Well, at least I know I'm not doing it wrong or something. Thanks for the replies.

1) Speak to Lucious Aldrin

2) Don't enter/activate the mech, but instead clear the area without it.

3) Once everything's cleared, go back and enter/activate the robot, and go to the beam-spot.

Actually, it does help. There seems to be a bug often times after leaving the bot.

If you enter the bot, then leave it immediately, you gain the bot's health, although it will not show it in your Health Pool or your Health Bar (in case of partying). Once you leave the bot with the gained hp, your own DR begins to take into action.

But like everyone else said, the bot really needs a buff to be any good. Lucious aparently sucks at crafting.

So many bugs in this quest. It's best to avoid the Mech and clear everything first yourself. And then go back to get the Mech and walk with it into the beam.

You don't even need to enter the beam with the mecha to win. Never did.

I hope they will also drop this stupid point and click system.

If I have to pilot that mech, it will be in FPS mode :D

why the persisted with the their obsession to shoehorn point and click tactical battles into an action rpg is quite beyond me. They didnt even design the two offending levels very well (the gauntlet and the squad one) and the big gun down sucks as well.

That's the problem. The idea is great, but they bungle the execution.
