In my opinion one of the biggest mistakes FSS did was to split the players between two difficulty settings (normal/elite) instead of increasing normal difficulty and add another "Hell-mode" after nightmare.

I can sure you that everyone thinks just playing normal is way too easy anyway.

As it is in Elite now (and I regret not playing just normal) there are at max 2 or 3 teams up at all times, and sometimes not even a single group up and running. As compared to normal, there are 10+ groups.

Anyone agree?

No, Elite is for more experinced people, more mobs, harder monsters. = HC = Easier to die.

There's a thread on this already, maybe on the official forums.

First, it makes a big difference whether you go through Normal solo (which you have to do if you play offline) or with a group. Solo Normal with some classes is a bit challenging. If you think Normal is too easy, quit playing it with groups!

Second, keep in mind this game is designed for the general gaming public. Many people who bought the game have never played a game of this kind before. Normal mode is probably more than challenging enough for them. The game devs know the market.

Third, try joining a large guild. Listen to the guild chat. Note the number of players asking for help "getting to Temple station" or killing the Tower of London boss. Or wanting to know how to invest their skill and attribute points, etc.

Elite mode was going to be for subscribers only but they had to give it to normal acounts as incentive for sticking around.
