What ideas do you lone warriors have for us to get a dye kit? Is this possible? I ask as I have seen these and think they are SWEET! Im guessing its not possible but...I think it would be fun if it was.

I don't know a whole lot about dye kits, but I think they were for people who pre-ordered the game? (Correct me if I'm wrong on that)
If would be great is SP players who pre-ordered could get them, but I think it would be unfair to give them to all SPers regardless of their pre-order status.

I disagree. Let ALL the players have one. Its good times.

thats cause you never paid for one ;) but i think SP should be given the option to purchase an expansion next year with dye kits, stone henge, and transmogrifier plus all the new little goodies that come out till then
thats if they decide to actually do this but i dont think they will, i think they plan on just working on their online model, with bug fixes for SP
a few things i think that should be free in future patches, tile sets for all the areas in the game - pre stone henge, elite mode, higher level items of exsting weapons in the game(so far the arclite cluster rifle has only 1 incarnation -max item lvl 27- whereas the F-S shock rifle has about 4 incarnations and the arclte combustion rifle has 3 incarnations)
a lot of issues need to be addressed with the game IMO, subs must still get what they pay for ie. new areas, game elements and chars etc.
but SP should also get a game thats solid, my idea i think would please everyone, SP should have full support for the game they bought out of the box

Agreed, it's a little disturbing how SP's are left in the dark the whole time. But it's early days yet, I'll get my bitching stick of doom out if they reach the 6 month mark and still no SP progress...

I have pre-ordered the game and my dye kit is only available online. Everything for SPers are like 2nd thoughts. Anything for Asian SPers are like 2nd 2nd thoughts. :(

i also cant use my dye kit (i actually bought it to get founders but i normally have a 600- to 3000 ping online) but including that in and expasion would be fine
things I think that are more important like elite, rebalanced game, tile sets of existing areas, items that can be upgraded/bought in higher levels ie. that cluster rifle, chrome bolters, and bug fixes. I would also like to see them tweak the engine so i can get better performance, my comp is by no means an old pc and at the time i bought it FSS said it should run the game at full spec fine(barring it's not DX10) but still.

well; odds are in time I can see FSS opening up a HG:L store
if the game becomes successful they will do what GW did over time. Create a real time, integrated store that lets you buy cool stuff. They could technically then sell dyes and other stuff which originally was subscriber only, to the SP/Free MP clients. Like $10 buys you say , the Holiday Dye kit.. You get the 2007 halloween, 2007 Christmas and perhaps the 2008 *insert random new dye* meanwhile subs might have 2007/2008 Halloween, 2007/2008 christmas and lots of other dyes. It is a start however

i dont like the idea of paying like 10$ for a few crappy things, i want a normal exansion, chunks at a time not bite size pieces

Expansions or "bite size" chunks are both fine with me, personally. My big issue is that they should be standalone, not tied to the server like subscriber accounts are. They should still function if Flagship Studios ever stops running the servers for whatever reason. That's why I play singleplayer in the first place.

Well an EXPANSION probably won't give you "dye kits" It will give you flat content.
The store would simply sell you like "perks" and stuff
Like the GW store you can buy access to the chapters.. so if you only own Chapter 1. the GW you can buy chapter's 2 3 and EoTN . Once you purchase you get instance access as the key is insta-added to your account. Ontop of this, they offer like "perks" such as.. $5 you get a character slot $5 you can get the GoTY weaponry pack. Those are things added outside of the expansion content.
HG:L will work the same way if they had a store. You can buy access to the expansions.. Maybe buy access to expanded/transferable storage. Can buy dyes and such. There will always be solid expansion packs.. a Game Store just adds the ability to distrubute cute items :)

Something as petty as "dye kits" should be relatively free to all players. I'm thinking of Titan Quest where you can alter your characters appearance as easily as buying a "kit" from a merchant. Why is this such a special sub only perk? Is it because they have nothing else to offer?

I mentioned earlier that I don't actually know a lot about dye kits, but I'm still pretty sure that they're actually for people who pre-ordered the game, not subscribers.
Pre-order people did take a risk by paying for the game before it was even done, so they didn't get the benefit of reading reviews or getting assessments from their friends. In my opinion, it's fair to reward them with a special distinctiveness on their characters.
What I think would be great if we got some new types of dye kits that are available to everyone. That way people will still know that Wasp, Royal, etc. type dye kit indicate a pre-order customer, while various other styles indiciate normal customers.

Yeah, I don't see the point of Dye Kits either. I mean, if you want your toon to have a specific color scheme just equip one item with the preferred look and click the fluid-sucking icon (I couldn't think of the correct word ;)).

...oh... look, there goes a sucker... yeah he paid for a full subscription, you can tell by the color of the text above his head..., good thing he invested, otherwise...
Having a special color to my characters name in-game and having a few bugged out perks isn't worth the price of subscriptoin, especially after paying $60 for this game to begin with. I already feel like a sucker with this game, no need to make it apparent to the gaming world by altering the color of text above my character. Lame.
Main Entry: lame

Um, are we talking about the same thing? I thought dye kits changed the colour of your clothes, not your name.

The point being that being a subscriber will effectivly change to color of your name in-game. The little bit of floating text above your head in station... I said nothing about changing your name... I find it absurd that this is considered a sub only feature (dye kits). It's like buying a TV and having to pay to change channels. Of course you can! The features that are being paid for as extras should be common practice.

I don't think I understand your point.
Having a dye kits changes the colour of your clothes. Being a subscriber changes the colour of your name. They're not the same thing.

Um...WHats your point? The thread was for an idea for SPers to get a dye kit. Not a rant about getting ripped off. The plains of despair are the place for that. Ive made enough complaints myself to know....lol

Good point. However, I think the rants basically boil down to "Why would we want that?".

I think it would be cool to have dye kits. I actually pre-ordered the game from amazon.co.uk, but because i live in england, didn't get a dye kit, which i think is waaay harsh. I don't play multiplayer because my broadband is provided by the school my dad works at (its FAST), and therefore it comes with a firewall...
However, it would be cool to have an expansion pack a la LoD, with some subscriber content, like dye kits being dropped, perhaps in different colours, so the original preorderers could still be l33t. It could also have things like new weapons, areas, monsters, etc...
I keep reading about the stonehenge area, but haven't yet found out what its actually all about - can anyone enlighten me?

Stonehenge is the name of the next patch. It adds many subscriber only features, including a Stonehenge area (hence the name).

To be honest, SP portion of the game always seemed like a crap shot. They only included it because they 'could do it'.
Otherwise I foresee a lot of 'new content' only going for the people that pay and for the people that don't ... they pretty much get left with the game they originally bought + bug fixes. (which in respect seems like a lot of other games these days.)
I wish dye kits dropped in SP though. It would be nice to see yourself in cool color schemes. I don't see why they can't let us have that, seeing how the only person affected would be the person playing the game.

They released it, they are responsible for it. Its time to end 2nd class citizen status for SPers.

Actually not really, they aren't obligated at all to provide any additional content for SP mode, just bug fixes however they claimed there would always be "meaningful" content for non-subs now whatever that means who knows. The chances they will even give subs anything for SP mode is zilch because they have no content control for SP mode so not even subs will get anything for it unless FSS implements some sort of tie in to lock out content in both modes if subs unsub.
EA for example for the most part drop kicked every owner of BF2142 in the teeth by dropping support for that game which hasn't been out all that long. They will no longer be making content, no longer releasing bug fixes. All they will provide is servers for multiplayer. People bought the game, EA released fixes and 1 content update and said see ya.
Initially you pay for the software and the license to access their servers free of charge. Without subscribing, anything further is done because they feel like it or they by chance release something non-subs will have to pay for like maybe an exp pack or have an online store like EC mentioned GW has where you pay $10 and get an additional character slot or whatever. I'd like to see an online shop though for some stuff.
There will always be a fine line between what subs get and what they decide to give non subs because they need to give people reasons to stay as a subscriber because it's earnings.

I dont care a bit about ANY new content for SPrs. Just fix the content they have already... Nuff said...

Dyes are basic content and they are silly for elevating their status so.
Srsly, what made it so hard to include those Christmas dyes they talked about in November? Are sets of RGB values so super arcane?
Coma.
