I haven't purchased game yet, but have been reading the forums and guides. Been watchign ther youtube footage too

I like what i've been seeing, but alot of ppl are been very negative about this game

When i think about it, I see D2 with guns
That's all im really looking for

A decent RPGFPS has been needed for along time

PLANETSIDE was very dissapointing to me and that was years ago

So, If i want D2 with guns, will I be pleased?

It's kind of difficult to answer that feraldeath.... I'd say mostly yes.... if you happened to play Diablo 2 from release, then more yes than no. If you only played later patches when the game was much more polished, then mostly no! ;)

It's definitely fun, it's worth buying if you like demon slaying and collecting loot. If you expect a perfectly balanced and well-rounded product, maybe wait until later. If you intend to subscribe, I'd definitely suggest waiting for a good few months and then assessing the situation again.

But to be clear - this is *not* an FPS by any stretch of the imagination.

Its not D2 with guns, its kinda close, but no, it isn't really.
As far as explaining further, im not too sure what things you are really looking for in terms of features to the game,, so I can't really comment. It has a lot of the elements for a good hack and slash RPG, but I will admit it does lack a few things that could make it a whole lot better, but there are about 39745 threads for that discussion.

Yes, a lot of people are negative about the game, however I love it and probably will do for a while yet. Also, FFS seem to be doing a decent job in term of patching the game regularly with fixes, so once most of these fixes go in, then it should increase the stability and "smoothness" of the game.

Yeah it's a bit of a loaded question. Without really knowing what D2 means to you, it's hard to say.

D2 was a classic, but people appreciated it for very different reasons.

For me, I loved making whacked out Hardcore builds and trying to get them to Hell - obviously, HG:L is much more limited in that particular scope, and probably always will be.

Others I know loved D2 for PvP - again here you'd be disappointed.

Some loved collecting Uniques for their "grail".... not something I see happening in HG:L at present.

However, it is a RPG with gun and a skill/stat point system. Buy it and let us know what you think! ;)

It is a new game, not Diablo 3 or anything. It has kept some lovely features from Diablo 2, lost some too, unfortunately.

But yeah, if you liked Diablo 2 you will most likely love Hellgate. I love the randomization of levels, a feature I miss in tons of games. Adds heaps of fun as it aint a case of just memorizing every single level, it is a fresh experience each time.

Yes, that's a good point Tsuyu - random levels makes the world of difference.

Something like Titan Quest looked fantastic.... for the first 10 times.... and then got very stale thereafter.

I think the point about when you played Diablo2 is very important. If you played it during the later stages you were seeing a game that had been through 4+ years of development and live playing. It really isn't fair to compare a new game to that kind of product.

That being said, Hellgate has many of the core features that made the Diablo series fun. It is still a work in progress though. I have enjoyed playing it thus far.
