Day One.
Everything happened so quickly. They came swarming through these flaming portals. Everything was on fire and the whole city was panicking. The most grotesque creatures you can imagine are now roaming the streets. The army tried to stop them, but they failed miserably. Normal bullets don’t seem to bother them.
Right now a group of us, the ones who are still alive that is, have boarded ourselves up in Danny’s house. Me, Sam, Danny, L-J, Austin, and Terry - we think were the only ones left in the neighborhood. So many people are dead, and we didn’t even have time to get their bodies. Now they’ll just become food for those… things. I am going to try to sleep, though I doubt I will be able to.
Day Two.
Sleep was a terrible idea! We were supposed to take turns keeping watch, but Terry fell asleep on his watch. I hadn’t thought the beasts had any form of intelligence, but they seemed to have been waiting for that. Little scuttling monsters came crawling through the windows biting whatever was in sight. The bites hurt like a bitch and left rash where their teeth got inside the skin. I hope they aren’t poisonous.
Danny had grabbed a shotgun that he had always kept in case of a burglar and he tried shooting the things, but they were too fucking quick.. Eventually he just went and smacked them with the butt of the gun. That seemed to kill them. Me and L-J tried to do the same sort of thing with whatever we could find. Austin just used his fists. Sam and Terry would have helped, were they not already dead. The little fucks had ripped out their throats.
We couldn’t stay where we were, so we climbed down a manhole in the backyard into a sewer. Nothing big had found its way down there yet, and we killed what had with weapons taken from the house. Danny still had his shotgun, I had grabbed a hammer, and L-J had taken a butchers knife. Austin was probably the best off of all of us. Me and him had gone up into the attic and found an old sword that must’ve been from Danny’s grand dad's. I’m not sure but I think Danny had said something about him being in the navy.
We walked down there for hours-eventually we got hungry, and had to go to the surface. The thing was, we didn’t know what we would see when we opened the manhole, and to be honest we were afraid. Still, Austin volunteered.
Now you are probally expecting that we have another dead friend. But that wasn't the case. We got lucky. I watched Austin climb out of the hole slowly, heard a scream and a large thunk, and then Austin was waving for us to follow him up. In the middle of a street was a monkey like monster, decapitated of course. It was still twitching. "You know what this reminds me of?" Austin asked us. "Gremlins." We couldn't help but laugh.
The street was deserted, void of monster and man. We could still here gunfire coming from far away, but there were fewer and fewer shots. A bad sign. Still, life has a way of giving a little bad with a little good. We had come out of the sewers just outside of a large church.
"Lets go inside." Austin said. He had established himself as leader.
We didn’t know what to expect inside, so we were careful going in. Austin stood at one of the heavy entrance doors, I stood against the other. We were going to wait three seconds, but that wasn’t in the cards. My door collapsed inward, and before I new what was happening I was surrounded. I didn’t get a good count, as the power had long cut out and the sun no longer showed as brightly as it used to, but my guess would have been five men.
“Get inside! Quickly we can‘t let those beasts get in!” A deep voice yelled. Looking out of the church I saw what he meant. Three… demons, that’s the only thing I can think of to call them, besides monsters and things that is. And they were big. Bigger than anything else we had seen, bigger than we were ourselves. They ran on all fours, yet could walk on two legs, and they had enormous tusks. They were running at us faster than anything should have been able to. Everyone else scrambled inside, and we slammed the door behind us.
