-Demons don’t arrive on earth in 2032, but in 2012 instead. The first Hellgate (yes, there are multiple hellgates) appeared during that year. I do not know if London was the first, however.

The year, during which the game takes place is 2032, and is 5 years after the war against demons was lost. Which simply means that humans fought up until 2027.

In addition, it is also a fact that Templars were among the few who were capable of opposing demons during the war, but They appeared too late to make any difference. (which would place them some time in the year 2022-7, but that is entirely my guess).

-That first part sounds more right to me than Ukee's guess. I'm not so sure about the humans fighting up until 2027, though. As for the Templars, they were there day one at ground zero. They immediately fought to repel the demon hordes and did serious damage, which caused the demons to focus on the Templars instead of local military. After countless battles, the Templars decided they simply couldn't win outright and began trying to save as many people as possible by ferrying them into the protected London Underground.

-Templars are zealots, but they're not wicked. Though some of the Templars in our game come off as gruff assholes who frown upon other people and classes for whatever reason.

Templars see themselves as the holy might of the land -- the righteous hand that has shielded and saved the remnant of humanity from total annihilation. They believe themselves to be the only true sword capable of striking down the forces of hell that have otherwise obliterated this Earth. And so, because of all this, some Templars strut around with a holier than thou "told you so" attitude. (Rightly so, honestly).

But as far as I know, Templars are still good guys, by and large. In terms of exact story specifics, I honestly don't know whether or not certain Templars have strayed from the path or have used ends to justify horrifying means.

[Also] I believe the Templars practically hate one of our other factions at this point.

-Q.ground zero was some place in london right?
A.Actually, I believe the entire world was attacked at once. London just happens to be the focus of our game.

-Q.are they connected in any way to the catholic
church we know?
A.The real Knights Templar have a long history attached to the church and various governments, but our Templars are simple "holy warriors" as to be a bit more politically correct. They're basically bad-ass good guy knights that don't take shit from anyone or anything.

-Q.how much is the hellgate templar faction tied to
the medieval templars?
-A.We [alter] the actual Templar history to make it seem like they were designed from day one with intentions to stave off a prophetic demon invasion (thus making the real Templars our Templars). But if you're looking for any semblance of historical accuracy, you'll not find it here.

-Q.Will there be a main storyline with an end?
A.Yes

-Q.is the whole game (what means many hours) bound to this storyline or is it just an introduction to the game and when you've finished it, the main part of the game starts with farming items and climbing the level ladder?
A.When you finish the storyline, the rest of the game begins, yes. We don't believe a storyline should determine when players should actually stop playing our game. We believe it should entice gamers into playing far enough into an experience that will only improve once they reach tale's end.

-Q.Will there be characters, which will strive for a dark goal as opposed to the templars?
A.Yes

1. Players begin as a nameless scrub pledged to one of our factions (that is, you've chosen a class). By way of great deeds, that scrub eventually becomes a champion who plays a critical role in the war against demon kind. Obviously, you'll have to play Hellgate to find out exactly what happens. But please do remember that you'll not be a fully developed character with a fleshed out backstory. You're just that one adventurer guy.

2. Q.What’s the primary goal in HG:L?
A.I believe it's to close the Hellgate.
